Meimei crept around the back way to her apartment, staying out of the light. She shivered with guilt, knowing that she was taking from someone else's profit, but it was the only way she could live. Still... Meimei clutched her stomach as a low growl sounded from it. She needed to eat to keep her stamina. Sighing, she tore off a piece of rye bread, and stuffed it in her mouth. I'll eat the rest at home. Then I can make ramen, and leeks, and rice balls, and, and... Meimei perked her eyes, fwipping her head around. I swear I just saw something. It's waay too big to be a rat. ... Oh no... Her mind went into worst-case senario. Toprotect herself, Meimei jumped to the wall, her back pressed firmly against it. Oh shoot! I left the umbrella at home! No!! she shut tight her eyes. "Pl-please come out, whoever it is. I'm sorry I took that ramen and bread and those vegteables." Meimei pleaded.

He new that he had been noticed, which was odd for him. Not very many people noticed his presence even as he killed them. Stepping out of the shadows, he reveled himself to the young girl. Even in the darkness, one could clearly make out the white cloak that cover his body. "Ramen and bread? I don't particularly care about what you took any crimes you have done. I'm looking for a guide to show me around this village. I'll pay you of course, but only for a good job." Reaching out with his right hand, the white cloth slid back off it reveling his hand. In it was a large stack of money. "Well, do we have a deal?"

Meimei looked up, her eyes filled with tears. Her eyes darted to the money in his hands, and her eyes widened. There's enough money there to probably get me through at least three months!! she thought. But what if he's bad??? thought another half of her. But her need to survive overcame her common sense, and she quickly snatched it out of the man's open hand. Counting the mony, she realized that there was more than she thought at first. "What do you need to see?" she whispered, an uncommon harsh raspy voice coming from her mouth.

A smile crossed his face, although she probably couldn't see it because of his hood. This girl could be very helpful to me. Who knows, if she does a good job today, I might ask her to join me. He looked over the girl, eying her clothing as the food she gathered. His pale blue eyes scanned her face then moved to here tear filled eyes. "You should look so worried, I didn't mean to startle you." He voice wavered slightly as he faked a compassionate voice. He turned his head slightly and looked around the room again. "This is some place. Do you actually live here?" Turning his head to face her again, he reached up an grabbed the top of his hood and slowly pulled it down. "I'm not usually one to revieve my face to people I have just met, but in your case, I don't believe that you will trust me unless I show my face. Now, can I buy you something to eat." He glanced around her and looked at the food on the floor. "Something better to eat?" Pulling the cloak off, he waited for her answer.

Meimei ducked her head. "y-you didn't startle me..." she protested. She blushed as he commented about her home. "yes..." she mumbled, beyond embarrassed. Glancing at his face, her eyes widened. He was much younger than she had imagined him to be. Meimei perked up at the mention of better food. "Uh, um..." Meimei glanced down at her clothing, a simple tank and torn-up too-short shorts. "Hold on one sec!" she called over her shoulder as she ran to her bedroom. Slamming close the door, She threw on her short-sleeved hoodie and cargo shorts, pulling out her sandals and leg-warmers. Meimei ran out to the main room. “Okay. I can go.”

Raising an eyebrow, he watched as she retreated to the sanctity of her bedroom. Looking around, Hiro noticed an old chair sitting in the corner and walked over to it. Bringing his hands up to the fasteners on his cloak, he started to open them. As the last one cam undone, Hiro set the cloak down on the back of th chair. Hiro's black outfit made it almost impossible to separate his body from the wall. “Okay, I can go.”Turning around to face her, he saw that she had changed her clothing to something almost presentable. "While we're out, you should definitely get something slightly more presentable. At least something in better condition." He then turned and walked out the door.
It was a dark day in the village. Ominous storm clouds had moved in early in the morning although it hadn't rained... yet. Pushing the old front door open, he stepped out of the apartment lobby and in the streets. Hiro checked over his shoulder to see if Meimei was still behind him and she was. "So, where is the nearest restaurant and a good one preferably?" He waited for her answer as they continued down the street.

Meimei stuck her tounge out as the man turned from her. She liked her clothes. They were comfortable. And it's not like she'd had the money before to buy anything decent. "So, where is the nearest restaurant and and a good one preferably?" the man asked. Meimei thought for a moment. "Um... there's a sushi bar at least half a mile from here, then there's a ramen shop about five blocks down." she shrugged. "I mostly try to stay away from all those places. But hey!" Meimei glanced around. "I never got your name..." she said to the man, staring at the back of his head.

Hiro smiled. "You know it's not very polite to stick your tongue out at people especially when they're not looking." He waited for a response as he knew that he had caught her by surprise. As he continued down the street, he looked from side to side and watched the people walk by and go about their daily lives. "Christ, what a depressing place. Dark clouds in the sky and the people look so happy." Finally, he heard her answer to his question about where to eat. "Um... there's a sushi bar at least half a mile from here, then there's a ramen shop about five blocks down. I mostly try to stay away from all those places. But hey!" Looking back at her, he raised an eyebrow. "Is there a specific reason that you avoid those places, or is it just something you do?" Out of nowhere, Hiro just stopped. Meimei, who must not have been paying attention, walked right into him, knocking him off his balance so he fell to the ground. Pushing his back off the ground, he sat there and rubbed the back of his neck. "You have to watch where you're going. The bloody well hurt." Stumbling up to his feet, he pointed at the the store. "So, do you want some new clothing or what. If so, here's the store." Standing there, he waited for her answer.

Meimei jumped at his observation of her rudness. Gawd, it's like he has eyes in the back of his head!! she thought. "Is there any specific reason you avoid those places, or is it just something you do?" she heard him ask. She kept silence as a response. As she kept walking, Meimei ran into the man. "Woah! Why'd the heck you stop?!" she hissed, grasping her forehead and rudding her temples. "So, do you want some new clothes or what. If so, here's the store" Meimei glanced towards the store. She could see alot of people in there, and alot of them would recgonize her. "I'd ruther not go with lots o' those people..." she muttered just loud enough for him to here.

Hiro raised an eyebrow as he looked at Meimei. "You don't want to go in because of the people?" He paused for a moment and thought about what she said and gave a weak smile. "Even if you did do something stupid to any of them, I got you back so don't worry." He turned to her and gave a smile, which surprised him as he wasn't usually this warm to people especially ones that he had just met. "Even if you don't want to go in, I am cause I need some new threads." Chuckling to himself as he said this, Hiro tugged on his shirt to prove his point. Slowly, he walked towards the entrance and pulled the door open. A blast of cool air hit Hiro in the face and although very refreshing, Hiro swore under his breath. The store was filled with people who just seemed to be wandering around pointlessly. The clothing racks were stuffed full of new clothes but none were to Hiros standards. Then, Hiro turned to see if Meimei had followed him in.

Meimei glanced both ways before she dashed across the street to meet up with him. She didn't know why she did it, but to her, it seemed almost second nature to always check. Meeting up with him, she shuddered at the blast of cold air. She hated the cold, Meimei would rather the weater be humid with a chance of rain, like now. Glancing around the store, she noticed many a people who would throw her out on notice, but no one seemed to care that a man and a little girl had just walked in. "What's wrong with all o' these people?" Meimei whispered.

Hiro turned around and saw her there, just looking around. "What's wrong with all o' these people?" Facing forwards again, Hiro's eyes wandered from person to person as he tried to figure out what she meant. "Nothing is wrong with them, they just don't care. Just stay close to me. They may give us a chance if they see you're with me." Hiro moved his left arm out and seized her by the shoulder and pulled his beside him. Turning his head to face her, he gave another fake smile. "Like I said, I've got you're back no matter what." Pulling away, Hiro separated from Meimei and moved about the racks of new clothing. "Man, there is nothing here. I shoulda gone somewhere else." A loud sound off to his left attracted his attention. As he peered around the corner, he heard a man yelling about something. Moving slowly, he walked towards the screaming and hoped that Meimei hadn't done anything. As he rounded the last corner and saw the man, his hopes that Meimei hadn't done anything went up in flames.

Meimei fought against the pressure of the man that'd grabbed. "I've done nothing, old man!" Meimei hissed, trying to regain her arm. "NO! You were looking to steal my money." the old man "I was looking for clothes, like I was told to do!" she retorted, pissed now. "And by what means do you say that?!" the man shouted. Meimei shrugged up her shouldeds to protect her ears. "He said I should get new clothes!" Meimei pointed in the direction he'd gone, just as Hiro showed up. "But why would you be looking if you've no money? We all know you're broke!" added a young woman of the village. Meimei recognized her as the ditzy one who's wallet had always been an easy and rich grab; she always carried around a load of money. "WELL, he gave me some," Meimei replied, pulling out only twenty dolloars worth.

Hiro had moved towards the man slowly as he watched him scream at Meimei. Reaching behind his back, Hiro drew a kunai and readied it in his hand. Disappearing, Hiro reappeared behind the owner and put the kunia to his neck. "I don't know about you, but I think you're being very rude to the customer. She's with me and she has money and I ask that you don't scream and insult he again, or I will make life very unpleasant. Clear?" The owner gave a short nod and Hiro removed the kunai from his neck. Turning to face Meimei, Hiro asked "Have you found anything you like?"

"It certainly seems quite busy and noisy in here today. Does there seem to be a problem?" A large man with flowing robes approached. He wore a large, brown hat with the symbol for Lightning on it. "Causing trouble today Meimei?" He looked to Hiro. "And who is this new 'friend' we have here?"
